Hastelloy C-276 (UNS N10276, W.Nr. 2.4819) is a nickel–chromium–molybdenum–tungsten alloy with very low carbon and silicon, designed for excellent corrosion resistance in both oxidizing and reducing media.
It offers outstanding resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion, and stress-corrosion cracking in chloride-bearing and contaminated seawater environments, making it well suited to demanding shipbuilding and offshore conditions.
Grade & Designations
Material: Hastelloy C-276 round bar
UNS: N10276
W.Nr.: 2.4819
EN: NiMo16Cr15W
Product: Hot-rolled / forged / peeled / polished round bar
Typical Size Range
Diameter: approx. 5–300 mm (larger on request)
Length: up to 6 m, cut-to-length available
Supply condition: solution annealed, water-quenched, straightened
Excellent resistance to harsh seawater – resists localized corrosion and SCC in natural, polluted, or chlorinated seawater where stainless steels and Cu-Ni alloys can fail.
Safe in mixed acid / chloride media – suitable for environments containing chlorides plus mineral or organic acids, as found in scrubber and waste-treatment systems.
High strength with good ductility – provides reliable mechanical performance at room and moderately elevated temperatures.
Very good weldability – low C and Si help maintain corrosion resistance in the weld heat-affected zone.
From recent sourcing questions for marine nickel alloys, buyers usually focus on corrosion reliability, standards compliance, machining/welding behavior, and service life.
Standards-compliant and fully traceable
Supply according to major international standards for C-276 bar with EN 10204 3.1 certificates and heat-number traceability.
Seawater-proven corrosion performance
Material selection based on data for C-276 in chloride and mixed acid service, targeting low risk of pitting and crevice corrosion in aggressive marine conditions.
Shipyard-friendly fabrication
Bars delivered straight, solution-annealed and machinable, with guidance available for welding procedures and filler selection in marine and offshore projects.
Lifecycle-oriented alloy choice
For critical shipboard systems where failure is very costly, C-276 provides a conservative choice compared with lower-alloyed stainless steels, often reducing unplanned repairs over the vessel lifetime.
